Kurt Vonnegut passed along some sage advice -- advice his Uncle Alex had given him -- in his last published work, A Man Without a Country (Seven Stories Press 2005). "I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.'"
